Life Lately no. 2

It's been a hot minute since I've updated y'all with what I've been up to, so I thought today would be the perfect time for a little life lately post. If you're new around here, don't worry! This is only the second time I post one. My Life Lately posts are like a coffee date with friends, just chit-chatting about the latest happenings of life. And since we're all friends here, not much is off limits ;) So let's get started... I took a bit of a sabbatical from social media in March and I enjoyed nearly every second of it. Not constantly having a phone in my face trying to take the perfect picture to post made everyday things so much better. I felt much more present. There's a big part of me…

Wholehearted

Natalie is honestly one of the sweetest, most genuine people I've ever met! She is the author of Wholeheartedly a devotional for single women - which has become one of my absolute favorite devos (tbh I've read it over three times).  Not only does Natalie write devotionals, but she also blogs over on her self-titled site Natalie Met Lewis.  She's writes about all seasons of relationships - from singleness to marriage - and is a huge encouragement to women everywhere.  Needless to say, I was truly overjoyed when she asked to interview me for her blog. I'm sharing all about my life as a single gal and much, much more! Hop over to her site to read the full interview :)

hello 2017

Oh how happy I am to see you, 2017. I'm usually not one who gets too excited about a new year. That's a reflection of my sometimes practical side (haha!). There's nothing magical about January 1st, am I right? BUT this new year is a big deal to me. If you're interested in finding out why, keep reading. (more…)

Why I Broke Up With Social Media

Instead of the normal Weekend Edit post, today I'm going to share something that's been on my heart all week. Last Saturday, I finally had enough and deleted Instagram and Snapchat from my phone. I vowed to myself to only download them when I was ready. And this is the story of how I ended up here... (more…)

When You’re Having a Bad Day

Do you ever find yourself in the thick of what seems like an awful day? Y'all know the one I'm talking about. The worse-than-a-Monday type of feeling that seems to bring you wayyyy down. I've found myself feeling that way more times than I'd like to admit. And I've come up with a few tips to remedy the bad day blues. Change your perspective - Ask yourself, "Am I having a bad day or a bad moment?" This can drastically shift your bad day attitude to a not so bad day attitude. Sometimes the rough moments in life can feel much bigger than they are. Don't let the bad moments overshadow all the other good things happening in your day. Take a break - Find time in your day to step away from work…

Life Lately

Today I thought it would be fun to share what's been going on around here in the month of November! I kicked off the month by celebrating my birthday! I hosted my parents the weekend before and we had a great time lounging around my apartment, just visiting and catching up. (more…)

Fall Bucket List

It's officially the middle of October and it's still 90 degrees in Houston. Hot weather, please go away! So I'm going to try and will the weather to cool down by putting together my fall bucket list! Living away from my family can be tough, especially as the holiday season approaches and I miss out on a lot of the traditions that accompany it. I'm trying my best to carry out some of these traditions on my own, especially decorating for the season and baking lots of goodies! What's on your fall bucket list?

Three Years

I can hardly believe that last week marked the end of my third year living in Houston. Sometimes it feels like I'm still brand new to the city, while other times it feels as though I've been here for many more years. So much has changed in the three years that I've lived here. I moved to Houston somewhat on a whim. I had a job offer lined up in the city after I finished grad school and I needed to work, so I thought "why the heck not?" I hate to admit it, but I honestly didn't put much more consideration into the decision to relocate. I had lived in Houston twice during college for internships and didn't feel like too much of a stranger to the city. Keep in mind while some of…

Saint + Cypress

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by! It's honestly surreal to be writing the very first post for Saint + Cypress. This site has been a labor of love and prayers for almost three years. Let me tell you a little of how this all started. While recreationally blogging in college, I fell in love. Something about thoughtfully writing and crafting posts that I could share with a community of readers totally romanced me. I was hooked. However, the blog was merely a hobby. I didn't have much direction, absolutely no business plan and no real direction for the future. It was simply a creative outlet. The blog quickly fizzled out when I entered the working world. Less than six months after officially closing my blog, I began missing it terribly. I had a longing…
